Available at preferred prices and quantities. Board & Civic Participation Club members are invited at all times to participate fully in the monthly Board Meetings and with the City of Santa Clarita’s various cycling outreach efforts. Special Amgen Tour of California Participation In conjunction with the City of Santa Clarita, the SC Velo has been invited to help with this spectacular event and to serve as “Trail Ambassadors”. Improved Riding Skills This can’t be guaranteed, but riding with an experienced group is the best way to learn the basics of drafting, riding pacelines, echelons and “survival” on the road. Member Expectations Wear a helmet on each ride. Members are required to volunteer helping a club function a minimum of four (4) hours each year. Have fun on your bike and encourage others to come out and ride with you. Be proud of your affiliation with SC Velo, and let others know it. FAQs Must I join SCV to ride with you? Guests are welcome, always; just as long as you wear your helmet! What should I expect? A brisk pace with the “competitive” groups and a more relaxed pace with the “recreational group.” SC Velo’s goal is to “promote cycling” in the Valley. Riding in groups challenges you to improve all facets of your riding! Are rides competitive? Human nature and the conditions of the day will push some and slow others, but club rides are not races. Will I get “dropped” and discouraged? Our group can be challenging, but we all try to regroup along the way and help with mechanical problems and flats. Be prepared to “ease your way in” by setting realistic goals, and “sitting in” the peloton once you get comfortable. |
